| We are a non-profit all volunteer small dog rescue. Our mission is to save as many small dogs as possible, placing them into approved loving forever homes. We also try to educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering their dogs. Before an adoption can take place, we spay/neuter, bring up to date on shots (DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies), de-worm, and microchip all of the small rescue dogs in our care. |

| Poppy is a 7 year old White Maltese who weighs 5 1/2 pounds. This little girl came into our rescue because her owner passed away and none of her family could take Poppy in as their own. She was matted but otherwise was in good condition but unfortunately she was only fed soft food so all the teeth she had left had to be extracted because the remaining teeth were all rotten. This hasn't interfered with her eating dry dog food. Poppy is a a very sweet happy little girl who would definitely make a wonderful lap dog. She gets along with other tiny dogs so another tiny dog in the home should work with Poppy or being an only dog with her owner being home during the day would also work. She needs a quiet home and will not be placed in a home with young children but visiting children under supervision should be just fine with this little girl. She would do well with someone who works from home or a retired person or couple who have lots of time to spoil this darling girl. Poppy is doing very well with her house training using potty pads but of course training in a new home would be required. We like our rescue dogs and puppies to be placed into homes where someone is home during the day and consideration will be given to those homes first. All of PJ's Small Dog Rescue puppies and dogs are indoor dogs with outside potty and play privileges, so if you are looking for a dog or puppy that you can leave outside, in the garage, in a dog run or locked in a room off from the family, please do not consider one of our rescue puppies or dogs. Please click on PJ's Small Dog Rescue's home page link on Poppy's listing for further information about our rescue, policies, and fees. PLEASE NOTE we are NOT a SHELTER, we are a RESCUE and all of our rescue dogs and puppies are in foster homes, so please do not ask to come and see all of our rescue dogs. After your adoption questionnaire is approved, you will be invited to come and meet the rescue dog or puppy you are interested in for possible adoption. If you are interested in Poppy you must EMAIL for required adoption questionnaire and one will be emailed back to you (email link for our rescue is at the bottom of Poppy's page). If you are a renter, please have a letter from your landlord giving you permission to have a dog. If you already have a dog then it must state you can have more than one dog. Also, it is our policy to not place our small rescue dogs and puppies into homes with large breed dogs. We adopt our rescue dogs to homes mainly in the Sacramento, Stockton, Antioch, and East Bay surrounding areas, but we will consider adopting our rescue dogs into homes located outside our normal adoption area. | |
